Therapeutic Training & Experience
I combine my initial therapeutic training, from 1991-3, as a Self Heal therapist with my Reflexology training in 2010-11, & my Touch of Light Massage training in 2016.
SelfHeal is now called Embodied Relationship Therapy (ERT). It taught me to look at my life in a new way and use that to help clients do the same.
In 2010-11, I trained as a Holistic Reflexologist and have been practising in Hebden Bridge, ever since.
In 2016, after walking a part of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain and receiving a full body massage which released my physical tiredness and muscle knots, I completed my training as a Touch of Light massage therapist.
As my client, you will benefit from 25 years experience of actively healing myself, 7 years experience practising as a Holistic Reflexologist and 18 months doing Touch of Light massage.
You will be supported to find your own path to better health on the levels you require, which may be physical, mental, emotional or spiritual, and to value yourself more fully to become the unique, creative people you deserve to be.
I have been an apple-picker in Australia; a plant-residues analyser in Dubai; a community development worker in Honduras; and a department Head of Grounds and Gardens in Sierra Leone.
But when my marriage fell apart in 1988, I came back to UK to recover. My confidence really nose-dived. I didn’t know who I was, or what I wanted to do.
So, as well as being a single-parent, I tried being a doctor’s receptionist, a gardener, and a traffic enumerator before joining ASDA/Walmart and working up to management. But instead of getting faster at stacking shelves, I just got clumsier, finding out I was dyslexic and dyspraxic.
Undeterred, in 2002 I used that experience to help others when I re-trained as a Basic Skills and ESOL teacher before being faced with redundancy in 2011.
What really mattered was learning to face the challenges and find my inner strengths. Now I help others do the same through my holistic therapy practice in Hebden Bridge, in the Calder Valley, in West Yorkshire, UK.
